My blog is eclectic with topics ranging from crochet to my backyard, to memories of homeschooling, to various adventures with the family, and then some. I blog about life!
A job change brought my family to central Illinois near the end of the last century. (Doesn’t that sound like ages ago?) We’ve been here ever since and have never looked back. We enjoy the slower pace of living, the “rush minutes” rather than the “rush hours” that are normal in the Chicago suburbs where we originally lived!
I am very blessed to be married to my best friend for 40 years. We have 7 children, all of whom we homeschooled for at least some part of their education, but my youngest 2 were homeschooled all the way through high school.
I used a number of resources and methods during my decades long journey through homeschooling, but once I discovered the Charlotte Mason method and Ambleside Online in the late 1990’s I was forever hooked!
We have 15 grandchildren, (5 of whom are being homeschooled). My husband and I wonder just how many we’ll end up with! And of course we’re not all that far away from great-grandchildren. Now, THAT does make me feel old!
I love to crochet, having been taught by my mother when I was somewhere around 10. She quit smoking, thanks to the Surgeon General’s warnings, and needed to keep her hands busy. Whether she knew how to crochet before that or learned at that time I have no idea. But what I do know was that for a number of years she was rarely without a hook and some yarn. I come by my love of crochet quite naturally! In fact, I crochet virtually every day whether it’s a quick project like a dishcloth, or more time intensive projects like blankets and amigurumi. I’ve often said crocheting keeps me sane! I love the creativity and find it very relaxing.
Following my “retirement” in 2014 from 25 plus years of homeschooling I decided to officially start the blog that I had been writing in my mind for a number of years.
Last of all I wanted to say that I am a Christian and eternally thankful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, without whom I would be eternally lost. I receive grace upon grace from His ever faithful hand.
I hope you’ll find encouragement and inspiration and maybe even a laugh or two while visiting my blog!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
